Why do my TrackStat text messages include “Reply STOP to unsubscribe”?

Introduction

You may notice that the first text message sent to a patient from TrackStat automatically ends with:

“Reply STOP to unsubscribe”

This line is automatically added by TrackStat and cannot be removed. It is a legal requirement under U.S. law.

Why does TrackStat add this message?

This is required to comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), which is enforced by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The law mandates that businesses make it very easy for recipients to opt out of receiving text messages. Including clear instructions like “Reply STOP to unsubscribe” in the first message sent to a patient ensures:

- Patients know exactly how to stop future messages

- Your practice demonstrates informed consent

- You avoid costly fines and legal risks (fines can reach thousands of dollars per violation)

This is similar to the “Unsubscribe” link required at the bottom of marketing emails.

Can I remove or edit the “Reply STOP to unsubscribe” line?

No.

TrackStat automatically appends this language to the first outbound text message to every new contact for legal compliance. You cannot disable, edit, or hide it.

Important notes:

- The disclaimer only appears on the first message sent to each patient (not on every single text).

- TrackStat’s system automatically honors “STOP” replies and prevents further messages to that patient.

- If a patient replies “STOP”, they will be opted out immediately and will no longer receive texts from your TrackStat account.
