How to Call In for Audio on Zoom (Instead of Using Your Microphone)

When joining a Zoom meeting, you can skip your computer's microphone and call in by phone for better audio quality, reliability in poor internet areas, or privacy. Here's how:

1. Join the meeting first

Open the Zoom link or app and join as usual. When prompted for audio, select "Phone Call" (or "Dial In") instead of "Computer Audio."

2. Get the dial-in numbers

Zoom will display a list of phone numbers (local and international) along with the Meeting ID and a Participant ID (if needed).

3. Call from your phone

- Dial one of the numbers using your phone.

- Enter the Meeting ID when prompted.

- If asked, enter your Participant ID (or press # to skip).

- You’ll be connected to the meeting audio.

Tips:

- Your phone audio will be used for listening and speaking; your computer mic and speakers stay off or muted.

- Mute/unmute yourself with *6 on your phone keypad.

- This works great in areas with weak Wi-Fi but strong cell signal.

- Data charges may apply if using mobile data - use Wi-Fi calling if possible.

Calling in separates your audio from your internet connection, reducing echo and lag issues. Perfect for quick joins or unstable connections!
